As a dog lover, pet owner, animal lover, and that I own a pet grooming and pet sitting business, it’s only appropriate for me to at least talk about dogs every once in a while, right?
Well today, I bet it would be a good opportunity for me to talk about my adventures with animals and how I got into this industry.
I’ve always had a passion for creating and being a creative person. When I was at a very young age I wanted an animal so bad. My heart desired one so bad. So my grandparents in 1995 bought me my first animal and it was a Jack Russell Terrier and I named it, Phoenix. Which is kinda crazy now if you think about it because I ended up moving to Phoenix and I love Phoenix. But that’s just my intuitive self that I had visited it once and I wanted to move to Phoenix so I named my dog Phoenix. Now I’m sitting in Phoenix owning a grooming shop. Kinda crazy but super true and my passion for animals started at a young age and has continued on in this nature.
My first invention was a dog bowl made of buffalo jerky because my grandfather was a buffalo farmer and I made this jerky into a bowl and then I put the kibble on top of it and I called it “He Can Eat The Dish” and the thought of it was that the dog was going to be eating the kibble for dinner and the bowl would be the dessert! So I created that, I envisioned it, I took it to invention convention and all of that. Was I successful in it? No. But that was my passion.
Working in the corporate world I decided that I was sick of it and I needed to do something on my own. You guys have to remember that I started the pet sitting business 10 years ago and from that pet sitting business it was just a hobby. I started so small, I had one family I used to pet sit for then my name got out and I got more popular in my industry. So I already was working with dog so much and I loved every opportunity that I had to do it. So I thought… I don’t have any money but I want to own a business so what did I do? I went out to bank after bank after bank to get a loan. A loan to buy a grooming business which I don’t know how to groom (still to this day) and also I didn’t have a ton of business experience but I knew that I could make a success in whatever I do. So I went on a huge leap of faith and passion and started the grooming business. I have been able to expand it and you can know from my other podcasts, blogs, and all the communications that I do that I’ve been successful in this.
Animals have been such a huge passion of mine that drive me. I love animals so much. I’m in my element, I feel good, I feel grateful, I am filled with gratitude, just overall at peace with my life because I’ve been able to have an opportunity to do something that I love that started at such an early age and it speaks volumes about who I am as a person.
So what I can tell you from you knowing this about me is that you have to follow your passion, your drive, and your ambition because it really will lead you in the right path for success. I took something that I was experiencing at an early, early age in my life and I’ve grown into this. I am a businesswoman of my passion. It’s a beautiful beautiful thing and I hope that every individual that has this desire is able to do what I have done.
I am an open book for you all and I want you to reach out to me at any point during your journey. I would be honored to give you advise, to answer any questions or just be a listener.
