Take just a moment to set everything aside that is keeping you busy in your regular life.
From a place of quiet and calm, reflect on how you got to the place where you are standing today.
What do you see, looking back?
Were you always a hard working entrepreneur with an abundance mindset, a growing team, and a laundry list of big hairy audacious goals to accomplish?
Or, like me, did you start out a scared kid, getting ready to quit a “sure thing” in order to pursue a big dream?
At the beginning of 2013, I had a master’s degree, a steady corporate job, and a small place that I rented all to myself.
I had the things that I thought I wanted…
But I wasn’t happy.
On February 28th, 2013, I quit my corporate job forever. I opened Puff & Fluff Grooming & Pet Sitting the next day.
The journey from here to there has been so crazy, it’s hard to capture it all. I could write all day, and as I sit here and look at these pictures I’m tempted to!
Instead, I’d like to lay it all out for you, and maybe share some highlights. Can you see yourself somewhere in this story?
March 1st, 2013 Opened my first pet grooming shop in Uptown, Phoenix
2016 Built my first systems for Puff & Fluff Grooming.
February 2016 Bought the Puff & Fluff location in Arcadia.
February 14st, 2017 Got engaged to the man of my dreams (Yep! On Valentine’s Day!)
August 2017 Bought Puff & Fluff Litchfield.
December 2017 Added Puff & Fluff Arrowhead to the team.
March 3st, 2018 My wedding day to Michael Kreitz!
May 1st, 2018 Opened Liz Illg Consulting
February 2019 Grew Puff & Fluff Grooming to North 32nd!
Looking at it all laid out, it is totally obvious WHY I don’t reflect much on my journey.
I was head-down and laser-focused on creating a life that I was passionate about.
It all happened so fast that it passed me by in a haze.
I wonder how many of us get so caught up reaching our next goal, or buying our new location, or training our next team member, that we forget to stop…
Take a breath…
And remember the scared kid who took a BIG risk to create a BETTER life.
I challenge you, this spring season, to go through YOUR old photo albums. Blow off the dust. Stir up some memories.
Then, lay it all out.
What was your journey?
How did you get here?
Don’t forget to celebrate how far you’ve come!
